Tea Tree - First-Aid Kit in a
Bottle By Jill Turpin The information contained in this article is not intended to prescribe or recommend products to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Reproductive and urinary tract infections, such as vaginitis and cystitis, respond well to tea tree oil. It fights fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, candida infections and jock itch, and helps heal cold sores, herpes outbreaks and hemorrhoids. It relieves the itching, redness and scaling of psoriasis, seborrhea eczema and other types of dermatitis. Tea tree can be applied directly to acne and skin disorders. Tea tree oil improves oral hygiene and relieves gingivitis, mouth ulcers, periodontal disease and tooth aches. Because it is nontoxic, nonirritating, and exhibits powerful actions against bacteria, fungi and viruses, it has attracted the attention of medical researchers. Tea tree can also help relieve some of the symptoms associated with chronic fatigue syndrome. Tea tree can restore energy depleted by everyday stress. By reviving mental energy it can reduce or alleviate mental fatigue and exhaustion. It is calming and centering during times of emotional shock. By easing and depleting effects of emotional disorders such as anxiety, depression, panic and stress, tea tree can raise immune function and increase response. Its multifaceted healing properties promote positive attitude and increase confidence while eliminating feeling of victimization and doom that can increase episodes of chronic illnesses. There is only one precaution associated with tea tree: It can be irritating to sensitive skin. If sensitization occurs, areas should be rinsed with carrier oils such as olive, peanut, natural cooking oils or milk. Water should NOT be used, it will only cause deeper penetration. Tea tree is a basic everyday oil and I recommend it as the second essential oil to purchase for people introducing aromatherapy oils into their lives. Essentially yours, Jill
