Dave Turpin is the President and owner of Desk Jockey Fitness.

Dave’s caring nature and knowledge of the human anatomy is passionately woven into each of his clients' programs.  Dave’s approach for his new clients is to address postural and flexibility issues first, followed by core conditioning, strength and ultimately - power.  Along with his relentless pursuit of continuing education, Dave’s “can-do” attitude can take anyone to the next level.

By applying the C.H.E.K Institute's proven and scientifically based system of clinical assessments, corrective and functional exercise selection, program design and periodization (progressions in exercise programs) Dave clients' results are assured.

Dave currently has a limited number of client opportunities for prospective clients with the following "special needs":

  • Orthopedic concerns (back, knee, hip, neck, elbow/wrist)

  • Diabetes

  • Clients who recognize and are willing to make significant lifestyle changes to improve their vitality and overall health

He has been featured on WFMZ's On The Green program and the Charlotte Business Journal.  Engaging and sometimes controversial he does make himself available for a limited number of engagements to present on health and lifestyle topics.

Kenneth Berry

"Kenny" has been teaching clients how to overcome their obstacles and reach their fitness goals for over two years.  His nurturing, gentle style appeals to clients who are looking for a trainer with a soft touch but knows how to deal with the tough realities of getting the job done.  As a collegiate athlete himself he knows first hand what it is like to take his game to higher levels of performance.

Amy Esterhay

Amy has been in the fitness industry for over 25 years. Her experience includes 10 years as Group Fitness Director for 2 area clubs in Charlotte, Activities Director at Olde Providence Racquet Club, personal training at numerous locations since 1995.  For 10 years she was the host of "Homestretch", a nationally syndicated fitness show produced in Charlotte, NC.  In addition, she has produced 20 exercise videos, 4 of which were for Good Housekeeping magazine and one video to promote a new product called the Pro-Bar.  In addition to fitness, Amy plays and competes in Charlotte Interclub League, Queen City League and USTA tennis leagues.

Shad Everett

Shad’s interest in Personal Training grew through his early amateur career in snowboarding.  After working with a trainer for his sport conditioning, he developed an interest in the training field.  He received his International Sports and Science Association Personal Training Certification in July 2001.  He began his training career in World’s Gym in Long Island, NY and continued on to Gold’s Gym where he left for a Management opportunity at Crunch Fitness.  Wanting to excel in his field, he pursued a specialization in advanced core conditioning.  He took several certification programs through the C.H.E.K Institute towards his specialization with interest in training athletes.  Since then, he work with golfers, tennis, baseball players and various other sport specific clients has resulted in significant functional improvement in the athletes' sport. 

To facilitate the highest level of competency in the industry, Shad is preparing to enter the C.H.E.K Institute Practitioner program.

  2. C.H.E.K correspondence courses in preparation for the C.H.E.K Exercise Coach program.

George Veal

George left a very successful 34 year career in management and commercial insurance to follow his passion for coaching and exercise by becoming a professional coach.  Not a team coach but a certified personal training coach.  George is certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and is an experienced personal trainer.

George is a life-long exerciser and believes that sustaining a regular exercise regimen is essential for long-term health and happiness.  George played football for nine years in high school and at Furman University and knows through his personal and professional experiences that back and leg pain can be improved through smart exercise. George is an avid golfer and loves to ski with a Black Diamond ski club.  He believes that knowing the right ways to stretch and focus helps everyone improve their game.

Several years ago George was introduced to ballroom dancing and this has added to his many life experiences requiring physical strength and dexterity.  To be a good dancer requires balance and coordination that George practices and teaches his clients.  

Although George takes exercise very seriously he likes for exercise to be fun and enjoyable.  Clients should look forward to their personal training session with him as a fun, stress reducing activity that helps them become more physically fit.  George wants to work with men and women of all ages who need his help and encouragement to set realistic fitness goals and establish ways to accomplish them through an individualized training program created together.

  1. ACE Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).
  2. BA in Business Administration from Furman College (Greenville, SC), football scholarship.

Paul Jensen is the owner and founder of Excellence Through Exercise, LLC in Schenectady, New York.  His extensive and in-depth experience as a corrective exercise specialist, nutrition and lifestyle coach, and metabolic typing advisor ranks him as one of the most skilled and versatile wellness professionals on the east coast.  He serves Desk Jockey Fitness clients as a technical advisor, lifestyle and nutritional counselor and metabolic typing advisor.

Paul draws on 12+ years of progressive experience in the exercise and health industries.  Paul has trained over 1,000 athletes and clients including elite Olympic and professional athletes, division I collegians, high school and young adolescents. 

In 1996 Paul was selected as the first strength and conditioning intern at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA where he worked with several athletes who participated in the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA.

After obtaining his B.S. from Lock Haven University he became the first Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Canisius College (Buffalo, NY) where he worked with the school's 500+ athletes and 22 Division I-A teams.

In 1998 he pioneered Siena College's (Latham, NY) first strength and conditioning program.  For three years he worked with the college's 360 athletes and 19 Division I-A athletic teams.
